Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections contain a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles in the face to relax. In turn, this smoothens out wrinkles, giving your face a vibrant and youthful appearance.

Anti-wrinkle injections are currently among the most popular cosmetic treatments in the UK for wrinkle removal, as the treatment is relatively quick and easy to complete. Most sessions can be concluded in 30 minutes or less, which means you can even get it done before attending a meeting or wedding or, say, going to the gym!

With very few side effects to report and the sensitivity in the face subsiding within an hour, anti-wrinkle injections continue to be a popular and effective way to restore beautiful and youthful looks naturally.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections explored in more detail

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as Botox and are used to smooth out the fine lines and wrinkles in your face, which typically manifest as a result of ageing.

From worry lines, lip lines and frown lines to crow’s feet and lower face treatment to improve the appearance of the neck and jawline – anti-wrinkle injections have become highly popular among people of all ages who seek a younger, more desirable and rejuvenated look.

How does the treatment work?

Anti-wrinkle injections or simply “Botox” use botulinum toxin as the main compound – a naturally-occurring protein produced by Clostridium Botulinum, a bacterium in the body. This toxin is directly responsible for blocking the ‘switching’ or transitioning of chemical messages that are sent from the nervous system, prompting the muscles to contract. In the absence of these “messages”, the muscle stays in a resting phase until the “messengers” recover. This recovery process takes about 8-12 weeks, on average.

Following treatment, you will begin to see results in about 2-3 days. However, the full effects may be observed in 2-3 weeks. Afterwards, you may need to go for a follow-up appointment to ensure the success of the treatment and have any adjustments made, if needed.

Your doctor may advise you to keep the target muscles engaged for a few hours while also asking you to avoid leaning over, lying down, exposure to extreme heat or cold and intense exercise for about 4-6 hours.

Is everyone a good candidate for anti-wrinkle injections?

Even though most people are ‘suitable candidates’ for anti-wrinkle injections, your doctor, practitioner or skin consultant will sit down with you to not just assess your needs but also go through your entire medical history.

Only then will you know whether you’re an ideal candidate. Remember that Botox or anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription-only treatment – you must consult a licensed practitioner before undergoing the procedure, who will also determine if the treatment is safe for you.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

They typically last 3-4 months – your practitioner will advise on the frequency of treatments to enjoy sustainable results.

If you’re ready to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles, then why not book an appointment with our certified cosmetologist?
